Praying for GE14

This Prayer for GE14 & our Nation is an initiative in partnership with Prayer United and TRAC churches under Rev. Joshua Hong as the overall Prayer Coordinator.

As a church within the TRAC umbrella, our specific 24-hour prayer day is every Monday for month of April and May but we can continue to pray alone or with other people at every opportunity. You are encouraged to sign up as a DG, as a family or even as an individual. You can refer to some of the prayer guides and resources at the bottom of this page.

You can choose a slot of 30 mins, a even a few slots for your DG with different members committing to taking smaller time slots eg. 5 mins within the chosen 30 min slot(s). Please ensure there is continuous coverage throughout the allotted time slot. A good practice is to call/message the next person listed to ensure the handover within the slot and also across the time slots. We hope to complete all the time slots to ensure a round-the-clock prayer coverage. Once you have chosen a slot for Monday, you are committed to pray during that slot for every Monday during the entire period in April and May (continuing after May 9th polling day), or until further updates.

Please register your slots either manually at the church foyer or online by adding your name or your DG to any available slot. Click on an blank slot in the spreadsheet below and enter your name and contact tel #. Please do not override any existing entry.

How then should we pray for the nation as GE14 draws nearer and nearer?

Contributed by Bishop Emeritus Hwa Yung (extracted from Prayer United Newsletter, Apr 2018 Issue)

  1. First, let us urge our own networks to give themselves to “pray without ceasing” for our country and its welfare. Challenge them to pray individually, in small groups and also in their local churches’ prayer meetings, on regular daily/weekly basis. And if they can do it 24/7, so much the better. For as we worship and pray, the light of God will shine stronger and stronger into our land to drive out spiritual darkness and demonic powers in our midst.

  2. Secondly, pray that the whole electoral process will be carried out properly with transparency by the appointed officers, and that all forms of cheating will be minimised if not eliminated

  3. Thirdly, we discussed the “Light Up Malaysia” (LUM) initiative, wherein we gather churches in every federal and state constituency to pray for their respective constituencies. Let us ask God to move the voters to elect MPs or ADUNs who are known for integrity and genuinely committed to work for righteousness in our nation and the good of all citizens.

  4. Fourthly, let’s ask God to open the eyes of the whole nation so that they will see through all the politicking, fake news and false promises, and vote in a government that will really rule with righteousness, justice and compassion in our nation

  5. Pray that both trouble-makers and demonic powers behind racial and religious bigotry and violence will be bound and restrained from causing riots and public disorder in the nation.

  6. Finally, pray that Christians will go forth to do whatever God puts into our hands to do before and during the elections to help bring in a good government, for the glory of God and for the blessings of Malaysia!

NECF - A Call for 21.21.21.

21 Days of Prayer and Fasting for the Church and our Beloved Nation

Starting 21 April 2011 @ 2100 hrs (9.00pm)

God’s servant Daniel was a model, who prayed for the land and served the nation whilst being exiled. On receiving a disconcerting vision, he set himself to mourn for three weeks, ate no choice food, no meat nor allowed wine to touch his lips and used no lotions (Daniel 10:2-3). His objective was to seek understanding of the vision and the times and its duration.

Daniel earnestly sought God for 21 days in prayer and fasting. In response, God heard his prayers, revealed His plans and strengthened him (Daniel 10:12).

NECF remains non-partisan, and this is not a call for a change of government, but a call to all our members to humbly seek God so that He will hear our prayers and His sovereign will be done in our nation and that all Malaysians will be blessed by God.

Our sincere desire is to see good men and women, from both sides of the divide elected into Parliament and into the State legislatures.

Like Daniel, we want to “set our heart to understand, and to humble ourselves before God” (Daniel 10:12).

This season to seek understanding of the times, is also a season for the Church to repent.

With effect from 21st April, 2018, we will start our 21-Day of Prayer and Fasting,

As part of the preparation, let us do the following:

1. Clear your calendar to set aside this period of time to pray a minimum of 21 minutes at 2100 hour (9.00pm) for 21 days, every day.

2. For the next 21 days, get your family involved or organize a small group of like-minded believers to pray together (create social media eg. Whats App group to remind and encourage one another).

3. Decide on the type of fast you and your group will be doing. eg no meat; no dinner; no media; etc…and continually encourage each other.

4. And pray for the following:

A. Before the Election: 21st  April to 8th May (Day 1-18)

Church:

1. The Church to humble herself before the Lord (1 Peter 5:6)
2. The Church to seek the Lord (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Nation:

1. The eyes of the Nation to be enlightened (Ephesians 1:17-18)
2. The Nation to hope in God (Isaiah 45:22)

B. During the Election: 9th May (Day 19)

Church:

1. The Church will arise and shine (Isaiah 60:1)
2. The Church to sow in righteousness (Hosea 10:12)

Nation:

1. The Fear of God to overshadow their hearts (Proverbs 9:10)
2. The Lord to direct their path (Proverbs 16:9)

C. After the Election: 10th & 11th May (Day 20-21)

Church

1. The Church to be ceaseless in prayer (Isaiah 62:6-7)
2. The Church as the House of Prayer to be restored (Mark 11:17)

 Nation

1. The rulers will govern with justice and righteousness (Proverbs 14:34)
2. The land will be blessed with peace (Leviticus 26:6)

Let us humbly submit ourselves to the Holy Spirit’s guidance as we take this 21-Day journey.
